Adults with capacity issues

Due to the complex conditions, which we provide care for, we have a number of patients with complex needs.

For those who do not have the capacity to make decisions regarding their health, determined by a capacity assessment, a best interest meeting is arranged, whereby all the relevant professionals will attend and provide input so that a unanimous decision can be made regarding the health which is in the best interest of the person.

These meetings have proved very useful and are essential in keeping with the Mental Capacity Act (2005). The focus is very much on respecting the views of the family/carers, as they know the individual best. Hospital passport are offered in order to aid communication when hospital.
