Bariatric Surgery - Benefits

If you are dangerously overweight (or obese), your health is at risk. Bariatric (or Weight Loss) surgery is recommended by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence as a treatment for obesity when non-surgical methods for weight loss (such as dieting and meal replacements) have not worked. It has been shown to be more effective at creating long-lasting weight loss than non-surgical methods.

The benefits of Bariatric surgery are mainly attributed to the weight loss it creates. There are many health problems linked with being overweight. These tend to be type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, breathing problems, heart problems, mobility problems and in some women problems with fertility. A significant reduction in weight can improve these conditions and the symptoms associated with them.
