patient in clinic, having a consultation with their clinician

Bariatric Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) Clinic

Each week on a Thursday afternoon, the team hold a joint clinic in the Diabetes and Weight Management Centre on the ground floor of the Ladywell Building (map). Surgeons, physicians, a specialist nurse and a specialist dietitian are present. This is often the first time you will meet the team.

If this is your first visit to the clinic to discuss surgery, you have several health professionals to see, so please expect to be in clinic for around 3 hours. After your clinic appointment you may be sent to a pre-op clinic straight away, extending your visit further. You are welcome to bring a family member or a friend for support, but please limit this to one additional visitor due to limited space in the clinic waiting area.

Please bring along a list of your current medication.

See FAQ (What does the evaluation for obesity surgery involve?)

You are required to meet a Psychologist to assess your suitability for surgery. This usually happens before coming to the MDT clinic so we know you are mentally ready for surgery. If you are not seen prior to clinic, you will be seen after, prior to going on a waiting list.
