For Patients

We are a Clinical Health Psychology Department, providing in-patient and out-patient support to individuals with physical health conditions, to alleviate distress and enhance coping strategies.

 

The department aims are:

  • To deliver effective clinical services to people with physical health problems and disability, and their families.

  • To promote awareness of good clinical practice, current research.

  • To advise other healthcare staff in the hospital about the psychological needs of people with physical health problems and disability, and the services required to meet these needs.

 

This section aims to provide patients and healthcare professionals with further information about the services offered by this department.

 

  • Clinic appointment About our service - Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME)Salford Royal's CFS/ME Service is a specialist NHS Service aimed at meeting the needs of people from 18 years of age who have a diagnosis of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), also referred to as Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME).

We work closely with our medical and dietetic colleagues in the service.

The assessment will usually take up to an hour and a half, across one or two sessions, and you are welcome to bring a close family member, friend or partner in with you.
  • Renal Dialysis About the Service - RenalThe Renal team predominantly support patients with kidney disease. We recognise that kidney disease can have a major impact on peoples' lives and it can be hard to deal with at times. This might include accepting a diagnosis and adjusting to the subsequent lifestyle changes.
