For Patients

The Department of Neurosurgery is part of The Greater Manchester Neurosciences Centre.  The adult neurosurgical service is based at Salford Royal Hospital and the paediatric neurosurgical service at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, Manchester.

 

The adult neurosurgical service provides a comprehensive range of neurosurgical services.  These services include:

  • Access to a 22 bedded intensive care unit

  • A dedicated 10 bedded neurosurgical high dependency unit

  • 68 standard care beds across 3 neurosurgical wards

  • Access to a neuroscience diagnostic unit

  • 3 dedicated neurosurgical theatres

  • Access to a 24 hour emergency theatre

  • A separate suite for interventional neuro-radiological procedures

  • Access to an extensive range of radiology facilities

 

We also hold Multidisciplinary team meetings in Skull Base, Neuro-oncology, Neurovascular, Spinal, Epilepsy, Functional, Pituitary and Pain.  As well as providing a 24 hour on-call service across Greater Manchester, and excellent transitional care from the Children’s Hospital to the adult service.
