Non-Epileptic Attack Disorder (NEAD)

The well-established Non-Epileptic Attack Disorder (NEAD) Service at Salford Royal Hospital offers assessment and therapy for patients who are experiencing attacks (seizure like events) that are psychologically triggered.

Prior to being referred to this specialist service, patients are assessed by a neurologist who is experienced in diagnosing NEAD.

Psychological assessment and interventions are offered by neuropsychologists who are experienced in working with people with NEAD. We aim to address the emotional issues that are identified as triggers for the attacks. The severity and type of psychological problems varies between patients and therapy is tailored to individual need.
