Time to Remember – Memorial gathering

A service of remembrance for babies and children is being held in Salford.

Each year, the Time to Remember event invites anyone who has experienced the loss of a baby or child of any age, to gather and listen to readings, light candles and release balloons. The event, organised by the Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care Team at Salford Royal, was first held around 20 years ago.

The 40 minute service, which is being held at Elmwood Church, on Eccles Old Road, Salford, will also include the reading of names and poems. It is being held on Sunday 25 February from 2pm.

Reverend Andrew Heslop, from Salford Royal, said: “The death of a baby or a child is one of life’s saddest wounds. All too often we live in a society that wants to ignore pain and rush forwards.

“From past feedback we know how much this gathering has been appreciated by people at any stage of life that have been affected by the death of a baby or child, or loss at any stage of pregnancy, either recently or many years ago. All are welcome as the gathering has no expectation of faith, belief or religion; it is an opportunity in a busy world, to stop and remember.”

Refreshments will be provided at the service and there will be an opportunity to look at the book of remembrance and talk to others who have had similar experiences.
